Senator Kent Conrad (D-North Dakota)

(1948- )


NOTES: Kent Conrad is an Overseas Brat.  He attended Wheelus American High School at Wheelus AFB in Libya as a civilian student for several years as a member of the WAHS Class of 1966.

Senator John Cornyn, III (R-Texas)

(1952-  )

John Cornyn is an Air Force and Overseas Brat. He is a 1969 Graduate of Tokyo American High School.  His father, a B-17 pilot in World War II, later became a dentist and served for thirty-one years in the U.S. Air Force and, later, taught at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.

Senator Cornyn was elected to the US Senate in 2002, taking over the Senate seat previously occupied by Army Brat Phil Graham (R-Texas).

Senator John S. McCain, III (R-Arizona)

(1936-  )

NOTES: John McCain is a Navy Brat who was born in Panama Canal Zone . His father and grandfather were both US Navy Admirals. McCain graduated from the US Naval academy in 1958 and as a Naval Aviator was shot down over Vietnam and spent 1967-73 in captivity in North Vietnam .

He was first elected to the US House of Representatives in 1982 and the US Senate in 1986.  He is currently serving his 4th term in the US Senate.

Senator McCain was a presidential candidate in 2000.

Senator Jim Webb (D-Virginia)

(1947-  )

Senator James “Jim” Webb is an Air Force and Overseas Brat. 

Webb’s father was a career Air Force officer who flew B-17s and B-29s during World War II and was later involved in the USAF missile program.  His father is buried at Arlington National Cemetery .

While growing up Senator Webb attended more than a dozen schools across the United States and in England .

Webb graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1968 and served in Vietnam as a 1st lieutenant commanding an infantry platoon. While in Vietnam he was awarded the Navy Cross, Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts.

He left the Marine Corps in 1972. Graduated from Georgetown Law School in 1975. He was the Secretary of the Navy under Ronald Regan from 1987-88.

Senator Webb was elected to his first term in the US Senate in 2006.

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-Rhode Island)

(1955-  )

Senator Whitehouse is a Diplobrat and an Overseas Brat. His father, Charles Whitehouse, was a Marine Corps pilot in World War II who later became U.S. Ambassador to Laos and Thailand – Sheldon grew up all over the globe, experiencing first-hand the power of American statesmanship to foster better relationships throughout the world.

Senator Sheldon was elected to his first term in the U.S. Senate in 2006.

REPRESENTATIVES

 

Representative Brian P. Bilbray (R-CA)

(1951-  )

Representative Brian P. Bilbray is a Navy Brat. He was born at Coronado Naval Air Station where his father served in the Navy.

A former mayor of San Diego , Senator Bilbray was elected to his first term in the US Congress in 2006.

Representative Tom Cole (R-OK)

(1949-  )

Representative Tom Cole is an Air Force Brat. Cole's late father, John Cole, served twenty years in the United States Air Force and worked an additional two decades as a civilian federal employee at Tinker Air Force Base.

Cole is currently the only registered Native American from the Chickasaw Nation serving in Congress.

Representative Barbara Lee (D-CA)

(1946- )

Representative Lee is an Army Brat.

Congresswoman Lee was born in El Paso, Texas. She moved from Texas to California in 1960 with her military family parents, and attended high school at San Fernando High School, San Fernando, California. Lee’s father was a lieutenent colonel in the US Army.

Representative Jim Marshall (D-GA)

(1948- )  

8th Congressional District of Georgia

Representative Jim Marshall is an Army Brat. He is the  son and grandson of army generals and a member of the U.S. Army Ranger Hall of Fame, Jim spent his formative years moving from one army post to another.

Representative Joe Pitts (R-PA)

(1939- )

Representative Pitts is an Overseas Brat. Pitts was born in Kentucky in a family of strong Christian faith.. His father was an Army chaplain during World War II, serving in the South Pacific. After the war, the elder Pitts returned to the Philippines with his wife and children to serve as a missionary in a war-ravaged country. It was there, where he saw the after-affects of war, that Joe Pitts developed a heart for human rights and commitment to a strong defense. General Douglas MacArthur, a warrior who humbled an empire and taught it to be a democracy, was a childhood hero.

Representative Pitts also served for five and a half years in the USAF/SAC.

Representative Rick Renzi (R-AZ)

(1958- )

Representative Renzi is an Army Brat He was born at Fort Monmouth , New Jersey . born He is a proud graduate of Buena High School in Sierra Vista, Arizona, where his father, U.S. Army Major General Gene Renzi (retired), served at Ft. Huachuca.”

Representative Chris Van Holland (D-MD)

(1959-)

Representative Van Holland is an Overseas Diplobrat. “The son of a U.S. State Department Foreign Service officer, Van Hollen was born a United States Citizen in Karachi , Pakistan . Van Hollen has also lived in Turkey, Sri Lanka, and India.
