ALLISON
WAGNER (1977- )
OLYMPIC MEDALIST
Allison Wager, an Army Brat and Overseas Alumnus, won a silver medal at the
1996 Olympics in Atlanta as a member of the 400m IM. Her win occurred on July
20, l996, her 19th birthday. She was a National Champion 2000 and 2004. In 1993,
she broke the world record in the Backstroke at the age of 16. It was one of the
longest held records in Women's swimming.
In an interview on NBC TV, she attributed her swimming success her US
army brat lifestyle. With every move, she could always count on swimming
to be the same. She lived twice overseas.

GENERAL (RET.) THOMAS C. WASKOW
AIR FORCE GENERAL
Lt. General Thomas C. Waskow attended London Central at Bushey Hall
from 1962-65. He graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1970. He
retired from the Air Force in 2005. He had been the Commanding Officer for U.S.
Air Forces in Japan.
Waskow, a command pilot, logged more than. 4,700 flying hours with 904 hours
of combat flying. He flew 2,200 in the F-15 Eagle.
JIM WEBB
SENATOR (D-Virginia)
(1947- )

Senator James “Jim” Webb is an Air Force and Overseas
Brat.
Webb’s father was a career Air Force officer who flew
B-17s and B-29s during World War II and was later involved in the USAF missile
program. His father is buried at
Arlington
National
Cemetery

While growing up Senator Webb attended more than a dozen
schools across the
United States
and in
England
.
Webb graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1968 and served
in
Vietnam
as a 1st lieutenant commanding an infantry platoon. While in
Vietnam
he was awarded the Navy Cross, Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and two Purple
Hearts.
He left the Marine Corps in 1972. Graduated from
Georgetown
Law
School
in 1975. He was the Secretary of the Navy under Ronald Regan from 1987-88.
Senator Webb was elected to his first term in the US Senate
in 2006.

WELLER (1947- )
ACTOR - DIRECTOR
Peter Weller attended Heidelberg High School (1962). His father
was an Army Helicopter Pilot.
His best known role was that of the original Robocop.

AUTHOR & REPORTER
Mary Edwards Werstch is a military brat. Her father was an Army
Officer.
Wertsch’s Book: "Military Brats: Legacies of Childhood Inside the Fortress"
is considered to be the seminal book on growing up and forever being a
"military brat."

Senator Whitehouse is a Diplobrat and an Overseas Brat. His
father, Charles Whitehouse, was a Marine Corps pilot in World War II who later
became U.S. Ambassador to
Laos

Thailand
– Sheldon grew up all over
the globe, experiencing first-hand the power of American statesmanship to foster
better relationships throughout the world.
Senator
Sheldon was elected to his first term in the U.S. Senate in 2006.

WIEST (1948- )
ACTRESS
Dianne Wiest, an Army Brat, graduated from Nuremberg American
High School in 1964.
Ms Wiest won Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress for
"Hannah and Her Sisters" (1986) and for "Bullets Over
Broadway" (1994). She was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress in
1989 for "Parenthood."
BRUCE
WILLIS (1955- )
ACTOR
Bruce Willis was born on the Army base in Idar-Oberstein,
Germany, where his father was stationed. The Willis family moved from
there to the small town of Penns Grove, NJ when he was two. After graduating
from high school there, he was a waiter and bartender until he was given roles
in New York plays.
ANN AND NANCY WILSON
MUSICIANS
In an interview on the TV Program "Live with Regis and
Kathy Lee", Ann and Nancy Wilson stated that they were Marine Corps Brats.
In a previous interview they stated that they had lived in Panama during their
father's tour of duty there.
In 1976, the Rock stars debuted their first Heart Album. Later
they formed an additional group, the Lovemongers. Nancy composed the
award-winning score for "Jerry McGuire."
JAMES WOODS
(1947- )
ACTOR
Army Brat James Woods is the son of an intelligence officer. His
father died when he was 12 years old.
He received a full scholarship to Massachusetts Institute of
Technology but dropped out in his senior year to pursue his acting career.
DANNY
WUERFFEL (1974-
)
NFL QUARTERBACK
Quarterback Danny Wuerffel won the Heisman Trophy in 1996 when
he played for the University of Florida. He spent 7 years in the NFL and retired
in New Orleans. His home and Desire Street Ministries were destroyed by
Hurricane Katrina.
Wuerffel, son of an Air Force Chaplain, is an overseas brat and
alumnus. His father stated that when he was in Europe he played soccer.
